Subtle question, so I’ll do my best to describe.

I often use Spreadsheets to weigh the best/worst features when buying something.

For example (in somewhat order of importance to me, and just a few labels to get a feel):

Van: Price per accumulated features, Internal Volume, MPG, Has Sto-and-Go seats?, Colour, etc.

House: Price, Bedrooms, Price per bedroom, Bathrooms, Price per square metre, Has Pool? etc.

Laptop: Size, Weight, Display size, Wasted Display real estate, CPU, GPU, Memory, SSD, Number of USB C ports, etc.

Doing this often strips away illusions, and help me make a more objective choice.

It would be fun too:

  • Collect many such sheets in one place (with data and metrics many people have found of value).
  • Build a simple interface to let people weigh what is important to them (perhaps vs. what sets a good resale value).

Could be something of interest to you, and, you might be able to bring something to this of greater value than what I have covered.
